This was supposed to be a simple Monday.
No day is ever the same for the Blend Family team. And while that’s something we say often, today I really mean it.
Take this Monday, for example. We thought it would be a simple start to the week. Then we remembered we work at Blend.
Our events duo, Kenzie and Laura, found themselves trudging through mud, collecting 170 pumpkins for our sold-out pumpkin painting workshops. Yes, one hundred and seventy. Yes, by hand.
They made a last-minute rush to Oak Tree Farm (shoutout to the heroes there for letting them raid their patch). What looked like a wholesome autumnal outing quickly developed into a day of slipping, lifting, and slipping again. And, for reasons still unclear, a goat joined the party. He didn’t offer much in the way of manual labour, but he did pose beautifully for a picture and seemed emotionally invested in the pumpkin selection process.
While the photos look cute, the reality was… less so. Rain. Mud. Soggy socks.
By the time they returned (damp, disgruntled, and firmly out of patience), the sun had finally decided to show up. So the rest of us stepped in, forming an impromptu pumpkin relay from car to office, trying not to laugh too loudly at their mud-splattered misery. The mood lifted. It wasn’t glamorous or easy, but it was Blend. Built on grit, laughter, and a team that always shows up.
And that, really, is the point.
Behind every workshop, market, gig, or pop-up event at one of Blend Family’s food halls, there’s a team of people who go all in. Who drive through storms, pick pumpkins up one by one, and still show up with warmth and humour (eventually). We’re here to craft experiences that feel thoughtful, welcoming, and genuinely worth showing up for.
So next time you’re admiring a perfectly executed event moment, just remember someone probably wrestled a goat and a wheelbarrow to make it happen.
Because at Blend Family, even our Mondays are unforgettable.
